My Video Dream

Back on February of 2009, I created a weekly video show, distributed over the Internet, called Saturday Morning Coffee with Jeff. It is now Sunday Morning Coffee with Jeff. Originally started as a little shout-out to friends and family, I quickly attempted to morph the show into something more. My love of video and video editing has kept be consistently producing shows on a weekly basis. An idea I developed was this show would have many contributors, that it would be a community of videographer all supplying content on a regular bases. I envisioned a group of people working together to create something special. I received three such offers. One from my cousin Willy, one from my son, Mark and one from Terry, who was the husband of a good friend (And now my good friend). After two years, I am beginning to worry that my dream will go unfulfilled. Maybe it is my fault, for I have not done as much as I should have to promote the show, but also I feel the Internet is more of an individual media and very few want to share. Take blogging for example; I believe more people want to write blogs than read them. I belong to blogging network sites and everyone wants you to read their work but rarely do they read yours. I wonder if the same is true with video that there is more people who want to create video that watch video. I have begun a more aggressive marketing campaign for the show. So I’m putting this out there. If you’ve got a video camera and feel like making shorts 2 or 3 minutes entertaining videos, let me know and become part of the show. The show is a humor, music based show that is family friendly. I’m always looking for interesting video.

Kudos to you for keeping at something for two years. I'm sure you got better and better at your craft with each episode. By the way, you're absolutely right in that bloggers mostly want to promote their own work. That's an astute observation many people fail to make. However, there is a not insignficant audience of non-bloggers who do read blog posts. It's even harder to video blog than to write a regular blog, so I'm sure there's an audience out there. It just probably won't be composed of other video bloggers.
